BlackTip Firmware v1.15
We recently updated the firmware on the BlackTip to include some options the test team though would be crazy to not release to the general public.
This is the original factory programming interface, it wasn’t intended for the general public, but as everyone is asking for it, here you are…
- Increased Efficiency
- The motor commutation is now fully sinusoidal, which reduces the current draw for the same speed.
- Programmable Gears
- Ability to change the number and levels of the gears.
- Quieter Operation
- The scooter is now much quieter, a featured loved by rebreather divers and other ocean life.
Follow the video tutorial for a step-by-step guide through the whole process! You will need the links below for software and files:

Upgrading the motor controller firmware and enabling the option to change settings on your BlackTip is an optional enhancement provided free of charge by Dive Xtras. Insuring the proper functionality of the scooter after upgrading and/or changing any settings is the sole responsibility of the user. Dive Xtras will provide a reasonable level of tech support via email or phone, only to assist customers in successfully completing the upgrade. However, Dive Xtras will not accept any warranty claims arising from the improper use of the firmware update tool or changes to the programming of the motor controller. If the user is not comfortable conducting this this work themselves, they are advised to send the tail portion of their scooter in to Dive Xtras to have it upgraded at the factory.
