Get the Speeds You Want
All Dive Xtras Scooters have programmable electronics that allow to you configure almost everything about how they behave. To access all these features you will need the programming interface accessory. This simple device plugs into your computer and scooter electronics via the reed switch connector inside the tail. Once setup you can configure many of the features of your scooter. You can change the number of gears you scooter has, the acceleration, even data-log your dive to see how much battery capacity you use on a dive.
Tweaks to try
Change the Gears: keep 3-4 gears in your normal diving speed range, and then just add one more at max speed. This way when you need to catch your buddy, or follow that Tarpon, its just a click way.
Slow down the acceleration: Popular with videographers to avoid awkward scooter jerks while recording
Change the start gear: if you normally dive at a different speed than 3, change the start gear so the scooter always starts in the gear you like.
